Catamaran

Hello all!

Enjoying the sunshine and great weather.  Still.  ;-)
(don't forget to click "read more" at the bottom of this screen.....)

Pool or beach?  Both usually...!

We were off to Earthworks Pottery factory last week, where I had quite a long chat with Goldie Speiler, the owner and founder of Earthworks.

We also had lunch at the little cafe there.

We drove up to Sandy Lane Country Club a couple of days ago.  It's an interesting place but ridiculously expensive.  We were able to afford one drink....!

C and I went into the ProShop to browse the seriously overpriced golf wear and accessories.
Of course everything has the "SandyLane" logo on it and apparently that is what makes a ladies' golf shirt worth $899.  (But!  They are made in China!!)

While there, we overheard this conversation between a middle-aged man and the young Bajan woman who worked at the pro-shop desk:
"Excuse me, how much did you say?"
"Four thousand."
"Four thousand dollars U.S.?  For a round of golf?"
"Yes"
"And this is because we're not staying at Sandy Lane?"
"Yes."
"Four thousand U.S.? For ONE round of golf?"
"Yes."

Then he started laughing, which I thought was so appropriate!  I think he was a bit angry at first, but then realised the silliness of it all.  Because really, how ridiculous is that?  Even if you had the money, how could you ever justify a $4000 round of golf?  How is that even possible?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday we went on the Cool Runnings catamaran trip.  We were up early to catch the van at 9 a.m. in our car park to Bridgetown dock.

We had a great day!  The weather was perfect.  And, because the waters up the West coast were quite rough, they took us to the South Coast instead.

We stopped at Carlisle Bay first and went snorkelling to the ship wreck.

We sailed bit farther down the coast and swam with the turtles, although I didn’t stay too long in the water there; it was quite crowded and people kept kicking me! (Too many rum punches I suspect!)

Then it was down to Enterprise (Miami) Beach, where we had some lunch and some swim time.  I dove off the back of the boat, but the current was very strong, even though we were close to the shore.
I was 20 feet away from the boat in a matter of seconds!

Still, great fun and crystal clear warm water.

Time for the sail home.....

It gets to a point where to pay that kind of money for a round of golf or for any game is probably - no - actually immoral. Somebody should tell the Chinese person who made the item how much money the Pro shop is making.

Crazy really. I'm thinking of investing in a SandyLane logo machine. ;-)

How is life at the college? Am I missing anything?
Oh well, nothing that a rum punch won't cure.... :)

Not missing a thing Carolyn. I'm the one missing out on the beautiful sunshine and warm waters of Barbados.
